Friday 10

1) Dropkick Murphy's - Fields of Athenry
Pronounced athenrhie, rhymes with cry, repeatedly.
Great if you like bagpipe in rock, Includes a prison ship. 5/10

2) They Might Be Giants - Don't Lets's Start
Rent the documentary somebody made about these two. "No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful" Makes moody-bastardness catchy. Includes Deputy Dawg. 7.6/10

3) Frank Black - Old Black Dawning
I had a job in college. I mopped the Dining Commons. I listened to this album A LOT, Sony Casette Walkman (that's "90's" for iPod crapo). Includes Frank Black. 7/10

4) Aquateeen - Mooninites and Meatwad
"Somebody hook me up with a flame, i'm having a nic fit". Includes 30 seconds of the Mooninites berating Frylock. 9/10

5) Dreseden Dolls - Good Day
This song is even better live. The premise is your psychio ex -girlfriend, written and performed by your psycho ex-girlfriend, with your psycho ex-boyfriend on drums. I will be at their Haloween show. Includes accurately descriptive chorus "I'm on fire".9.5/10

6) Coldplay - Clocks
A wall of above average sound. Very good for a rainy day drive, which I am not on. Includes a rhythym that attempts to reset your heartbeat.6.5/10

7) A lack of colour - Death Cab for Cutie
Awesomely clever lyrics, simple enough music, great atmosphere. She must have been one hell of a woman. Includes psycho ex-boyfriend leaving an embarrasing answering machine message. 7.5/10

8) I'm Amazed - Pixies (purple tape ver.)
1986 - believe it. no one has yet set the mark for how far ahead of their time the pixies were. Includes my amazement 9.5/10

9) Any colour you like - Pink Floyd
As i recall, this ws when the planetarium laser show got really good. Includes a few reminders that it took radiohead 25 years to set pink floyds time-aheadedness mark. 6.5/10

10) Busted bicycle - Leo Kottke (6&12 ver.)
I saw this guy play live once. It is just one guy with one guitar, and fingers like calloused hummingbirds. Includes a race to the end of the song. 8/10

11) Golden Brown - The Stranglers
A song about the best sex you've ever had. Power pop at it's birth. Includes vague masturbation references. 8/10

No summary math here, but I do have happy ears.

Yeah, the Planetarium in Cambridge (boston) really did it up right. That memory is from high school. First time I ever heard the album from start to finish.

w00t @ The Stranglers. But lately, my go-to band for funky, sloppy, grinding coital fun has been My Morning Jacket...
