I almost miss cable television

A two-fer today
.
The comedy - in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians - instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.
Later, that same article, a white sounding man vents furiously, ignoring the very name of the organization through which he shares his understanding of the love and tolerance taught by his saviour, Jesus Christ.

A frequent "South Park" critic, William Donohue of the anti-defamation group Catholic League, called on Parker and Stone to resign out of principle for being censored.

"The ultimate hypocrite is not Comedy Central - that's their decision not to show the image of Muhammad or not - it's Parker and Stone," he said. "Like little whores, they'll sit there and grab the bucks. They'll sit there and they'll whine and they'll take their shot at Jesus. That's their stock in trade."
Nosiree, No defamation there.

That was exactly the point. It was great.

I couldn't watch it. As soon as they mentioned Muhammad, I knew what the whole show was all about. Parker and Stone are pretty transparent like that.

The crappy thing was that it was a two part episode. So, I couldn't watch it for two weeks in a row.

South Park kind of sucks whenever they're trying to be poltically apolitical. They don't really fool anyone with their "don't box us in we're not really conservative" claptrap.

It's a real disappointment, too. I remember seeing the first show at some house in Amherst and watching Cartman get zapped by lightning and start to sing-a about the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a. I thought "wow, there's a reference that not everyone will get!". I was hooked. I remember downloading the next several seasons off the internet because I didn't have cable. But then, roughly around the same time that Dennis Miller slumped over pulling the stick far to the right, South Park started being about issues. And whenever it's about issues, it sucks.

Will the kids at The Corner find out about this? How WILL South Park Conservatives react to this breach of ettiquete by their notional allies? WHAT WILL THEY DO???

Tune in next week...
