The worlds sometimes laughs AT you

underwrought personal blogging time. about work, again.

So we have a new jr. employee, no experience, but a generally sound background in science. Analytic mind, great vocabulary, quick wit, outgoing and confident, clear, concise, efficient, pleasant and friendly, also, cuter than any button I have ever seen. Wicked Crush.

And the world laughs -at- me, and I laugh on my own, because she plays for a different team.

phew.

Sadly...... (link)

Does the phrase "welcome to my world" strike you as appropriate? I mean, this poor teacher probably has to have the ten commandments in his classroom. No? may as well.

State Board of Education member Connie Morris took exception Wednesday to a picture of a made-up creature that satirizes the state's new science standards hanging on a Stucky Middle School teacher's door.

Fellow board member Sue Gamble told The Eagle that Morris asked for the picture to be removed.

This science teacher is my hero if s/he says no.

I almost miss cable television

A two-fer today
.
The comedy - in an episode aired during Holy Week for Christians - instead featured an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.
Later, that same article, a white sounding man vents furiously, ignoring the very name of the organization through which he shares his understanding of the love and tolerance taught by his saviour, Jesus Christ.

A frequent "South Park" critic, William Donohue of the anti-defamation group Catholic League, called on Parker and Stone to resign out of principle for being censored.

"The ultimate hypocrite is not Comedy Central - that's their decision not to show the image of Muhammad or not - it's Parker and Stone," he said. "Like little whores, they'll sit there and grab the bucks. They'll sit there and they'll whine and they'll take their shot at Jesus. That's their stock in trade."
Nosiree, No defamation there.

Who needs ponies?

National Review Calls For Katherine Harris To Withdraw From Senate Race...

That's a teaser at HuffPo, which links to a San Jose Mercury news story about blah blah blah...

The line from huffpo made me think of a question. If she is not elected becuse she doesn't run (as opposed to winning because she does run), what other tactic could one take to prove the voting machines are actually rigged?

Alternately,

the jig is up, some people are finding computer porn on their work machines and resigning gracefully (of course, porn at work, what other explanation could there possibly be???*), some people are finding expensive yachts in their DC portages and resigning gracefully (of course, blatant graft in Washington, what other explanation could there possibly be???*), and yet others are being urged by party insiders to not even run for high elected office (of course, they don't like her, what other reason could there possibley be???*)

* - pronounced a la 'kids in the hall'.

oh, and there's this too. From the WaPo, slightly more um, reliable, than HuffPo, if generally less interesting.
A majority of registered voters, 55 percent, say they plan to vote for the Democratic candidate in their House district, while 40 percent support the Republican candidate. That is the largest share of the electorate favoring Democrats in Post-ABC polls since the mid-1980s.

I think this is all a major purge. Sit back and watch, and enjoy.

Citizenship is a Family Value -link-

So, do what you can,

and ignore these flapping gums. .
We're fixing to have a huge immigration march today. And it's a sign that there's a -- this is a -- you know, this is an important issue that people feel strongly about. And I repeat to you, I strongly believe that societies in which you're not allowed to express yourself are societies which do breed resentment. And kind of the bottled up anxiety causes people to become very frustrated. And that's not healthy for society.

This man knows what frustration is all about, and is waaaaaay out behind on this one, as usual. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you the House of Representatives in 2006.

My favorite is this guy.

"I don't believe in abortion. It's just an excuse to get wild," said Daniel Perea, 28. "Guys think, 'Oh well, if you end up pregnant, all we have to do is come up with $300 and we can go across the state and get an abortion.' It's very dangerous to let people choose that."

Perea said he spoke from experience: He helped three former girlfriends obtain abortions. He believes God punished him with a childless marriage and his recent divorce; he wants to make sure other young couples don't make the same mistake. "We have to put our foot down," he said.

Crook? or Liar? (link)

This is what the internet is about.

It's fine to be stumped on a question, but not okay to pause in order to figure out what other lie you have to not untell with your next utterance, When the world can see the calculus of dishonesty cross your face, you're a gonner.

It's the same look when an actor momentarily forgets his line, or panics for a second when forced to ad-lib. Momentarily out-of-the groove.

it's a tell.

who needs leashes anyhow?

Rice went into damage control mode on Saturday, telling the BBC: "Of course there have been mistakes, but it was not a mistake to overthrow Saddam Hussei. It was not a mistake to unleash the forces of democracy in the Middle East."
